Unknown gunmen have kidnapped Dr. Muhammed Egye Osolafia, popularly called Deedat, the Senior Special Assistant on Humanitarian Services to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State.

Osolafia was seized late Saturday night at his residence in the Tudun Amba area of Lafia, the state capital. Witnesses said the assailants stormed the neighbourhood, firing shots into the air before making straight for their target.

Confirming the incident, Governor Sule’s Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, described the abduction as “sad and unfortunate,” noting he was informed of the development by another colleague.

The incident adds to rising insecurity in Lafia, coming barely two months after Barrister Yusuf Musa, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Culture, was abducted from his home in Ungwan Nungu.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, for confirmation were unsuccessful as of press time.
