Renowned Evangelist Rev. Uma Ukpai Dies at 80

Rev. Uma Ukpai, a prominent Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, has passed away at the age of 80.

Daily Lens confirmed that the revered cleric died on Monday morning. A family source described his passing as a sad loss, recalling him as a “charismatic preacher in the 1980s and 1990s whose message of deliverance transformed countless lives.”

Until his death, Rev. Ukpai chaired the Uma Ukpai Eye Centre and King of Kings Hospital in Abia State. He also founded several institutions, including the Uma Ukpai School of Theology and Biblical Studies, Uyo; Uma Ukpai Polytechnic, Asaga; Uma Ukpai Scholarship Foundation; and the Joseph Business School.

His death marks the end of an era for one of Nigeria’s most influential Christian evangelists.
