President Bola Tinubu on Friday compared Nigeria’s current economic hardship to the sting of a life-saving surgery, assuring citizens that the nation is already on the road to recovery.
Speaking at the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, held at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, the president thanked Nigerians for their patience and resilience since the rollout of his sweeping economic reforms.
“To many of you here, I bring good news — our economy has turned the corner,” Tinubu declared. “There is a bright light at the end of the tunnel. Your suffering is the pain of a painful surgery, but it is now giving way to a new moment of growth and prosperity. Thank you for your perseverance, your endurance, and your understanding.”
Tinubu arrived at the venue at exactly 2:28 p.m. alongside Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, with the governors of Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti States and members of the Federal Executive Council in tow.
The president’s remarks came moments after Oba Ladoja was formally crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan in a colourful, historic ceremony that attracted dignitaries from across the South-West and beyond.
