CJN to Swear in 57 New SANs as Supreme Court Opens 2025/2026 Legal Year

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will on Monday, September 29, administer the oath of office to 57 newly elevated Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs).

The ceremony, scheduled for the main courtroom of the Supreme Court, is part of activities lined up to usher in the 2025/2026 legal year.

According to a statement by the apex co ofurt’s spokesperson, Festus Akande, the event will feature a special court session where the CJN is expected to deliver a “State of the Judiciary” address, reviewing the performance of the courts in the just-concluded legal year.

Key stakeholders including the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) are also billed to speak on the state of the justice sector.

The day’s programme begins at 10 a.m.
