Oshiomhole Warns Jonathan Against 2027 Comeback: “Only His Enemies Want That

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has cautioned former President Goodluck Jonathan against succumbing to pressure to recontest the presidency in 2027, warning that such a move could tarnish his legacy.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the former Edo State governor said Jonathan should preserve the goodwill he enjoys as a respected statesman rather than plunge back into partisan battles.

“Those urging Jonathan to run again are not his friends. Only his enemies would want him to go through another electoral defeat,” Oshiomhole said.

He added that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would defeat Jonathan if he decided to contest, recalling that the former president was already beaten by the APC in 2015 when Muhammadu Buhari emerged victorious.

Jonathan, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2010 to 2015 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has recently faced renewed calls from some quarters to return to the race in 2027 — calls Oshiomhole insists he should firmly resist.
