Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah is set to formally defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in Enugu, the state capital.
The move will see Mbah, who was elected governor under the PDP in 2023, join the ruling party alongside members of the National and State Assemblies, state executive officials, and key political leaders from all 17 local government areas of the state.
The APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, had earlier confirmed that preparations were underway to welcome the governor into the party. During the inauguration of a seven-man caretaker committee for the APC in Enugu, the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and Deputy National Chairman (South), Hon. Emma Eneukwu, said the defection aligns with efforts to expand APC’s influence in the South East.
Speaking at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, the new Enugu State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, confirmed that Governor Mbah and his team would be formally received into the party on October 14.
