Nigeria’s Super Eagles edged closer to qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Lesotho 2–1 in a crucial Group C encounter on Friday.
Captain William Troost-Ekong broke the deadlock in the 55th minute with a well-taken penalty, before substitute Akor Adams extended Nigeria’s lead in the 80th minute. Lesotho’s Hlompho Kalake struck back just three minutes later, but the Super Eagles held on to secure a vital three points.
The victory lifts Nigeria to third place in Group C with 14 points, trailing Benin Republic by three points and sitting just one point behind South Africa.
